OBQ SUP 11/08/2010
That happened about a year and a half ago for me. It just gets more and more reinforced with more waves. There's more info about OBQ on Swaylocks.com.
Whenever there is a real wave to ride the single-twins just feels so nice. It blends the best of both worlds (single fin and twin fin) and then some. I like to call it the single-twin turbo as it easily grips the steeps and generates bursts of speed whenever needed with plenty of control arranged for the next turns and bursts.
The wind, the sun, and Pistolproof Kevlar 08/22/2010
The new Resin Research CE epoxy with the added UV blockers and optical brighteners has worked wonderfully so far. The exposed Kevlar on the rails of my 85 still looks fine and the balsa bottom hasn't gone blonde at all. Kevlar's toughness is a really nice feature but the vibration dampening quality is the main reason I like it so much.
Control at speed and easier on the body.
Single fin, twin fins, thrusters, quads, bonzers, single-twin turbo, and now there's the tubercles. A turbicular quad might be the next big thing.
Another board meeting 08/15/2010
So I wake up from a Sunday afternoon siesta by the beach and it still looks flat. Luke, Jen and Holly show up and say there's maybe a little more wave nearby and its time to go do it. It always turns out to be a fun time around them when they're also out surfing so I don't hesitate to join in. It turned out to be bigger and better than I expected so it really was a good time. They eventually had to leave but there was still more waves happening so I guess I'm the only one out now. I notice a nice set on the outside approaching so I get into position for one of them. It turns out to be wave of the day and I'm in perfect position and dropping in on it. I'm racing down the line and the twin-turbos are kicking in nicely on the fast steep section and generating speed. Suddenly I notice there's a clueless boogie boarder ahead(where did he come from?) and this wave is getting ready to close out hard. Man it was really close but the board meeting ended ok.
The sight and sound of music 08/14/2010
There's a saying and it goes something like this,"only a surfer knows the feeling." It's part of that tapping into the source. So I loaned out my 7'11" SUP again and it didn't take long to hear the words "its really fast and it turns." All the while when it also looked plenty stable and easy to catch waves with right from the start.
So I'm driving home and notice 3 surfers out nearby so I stop to watch them. I notice one of them just ripping a wave and he comes in after it. It turns out to be Luke on the 5'4" board I made him last winter. He mentions that its holding up well and he likes riding it more than his Firewire.
Rode some waves and experienced some positive feedback about my creations. It was a good day.
Fun swell yesterday 08/12/2010
Its been another long string of windy days but kinda flat and a little busy until yesterday. The Rock was solid 5.2 with a nice swell hitting it and there was plenty to pick from. The Cape looked fun too. Here's a pic of Roger R. riding one. Looks like he was borrowing one of Dana's sails.
Pistol River was on FIRE 07/20/2010
Its been windy for several days and that 3.2 wind today proved dangerous. Currypilot.com has more info.
4.2 FULL POWAHH 07/13/2010
Its been windy again for several days now and the Rock had some fun sized rides today. Then it was time to relax afterwards and see if there was any cape action happening. Luke was ripping it up.
4.2,4.2 4th,4.7 07/05/2010
There must have been some good wind up north as well as that was a really nice late afternoon windswell delivery today.
